August 2016

Dear Parents, Carers & Young Players,

Welcome to the 2016/17 season

Last season was another great one for Bromsgrove Minis and Juniors with 400 young people registered, supported by over 80 volunteers. Running such a large section successfully is dependent on many individuals giving up their time and I hope you will join me in thanking all of our volunteers for their hard work both last season and going forward into 2016/17.

I’d also like to thank those of you who attended the M&J AGM in June where it was fabulous to see so many of our young players being recognised by their age groups for their achievements and meeting new 1st XV Captain, Bobby Green, who presented the awards. After the club AGM in July you will probably be aware that Jason Woodbine has taken over as BRFC Chair. With his links to the M&J section and ideas for the club as a whole, this promises to be an exciting season with lots of emphasis on building on the BRFC community.

As the new season will soon be upon us I look forward to welcoming you back to the club in September and provide some details for your information below.

Registration Day
The Mini and Junior registration day will be on Sunday 4th September 2016. Once again we will split the day so that there is not too much pressure on pitch space and parking. Times will be:

Under 6s to Under 12s - registration and training between 10am & 12noon

Under 13s to Under 17s - registration and training between 1pm & 3pm

Fees for the 2016/17:
Mini (U6 – U12): £60
Junior (U13 – U17): £70
Plus
Family Membership fee: £25
(Under the BRFC constitution Family Membership is compulsory for all families with a child playing in the M&J section.)
nb the maximum payable by a single family is £140.

Your age group Administrator will be in the clubhouse with paperwork ready for checking and signing. Please take the time to check the form/s carefully, complete the Medical Conditions section, read the clauses and remember to sign it! Payment can be made by cash or cheque only (payable to “Bromsgrove Rugby Football Club”). Please do not make payment over the bar as this does not go into the M&J account.

Life Sponsor

A one-off membership fee of £400 covers club membership for your entire life – no more annual Family Membership fees or Social Membership fees once you move on from M&Js. This can be paid in a lump sum or in instalments.
Life sponsor monies are invested in the
Club Development Fund and will be used to further improve facilities at the club. If you are interested in becoming a Life Sponsor, please contact me for details prior to 4th September.

Fixtures

A comprehensive list of all fixtures will be in the Membership Handbook and available on the Mini and Junior section of the club website: www.bromsgroverfc.co.uk. Whilst fixtures are correct at the time of going to press, these are liable to change regularly throughout the season. Please check the website on a weekly basis for any changes to fixtures and make sure you are on your administrator’s mailing list.

Kit

Speed One Sports will continue to supply M&J kit this season. The website can be found at www.speedonesports.com with the BRFC kit under the ‘Club Shop’ tab.
Match shirts for Mini players need to be ordered through the M&J section to meet minimum order requirements - please liaise with your age group’s Administrator.

Age Grade Rugby

After a four year review led by the RFU, Age Grade Rugby will come into force from September 2016. This will mean changes to the previous rules of play across all age groups and is built around putting player fulfilment first to keep more young people enjoying the game for longer and into their adult years. Leaflets giving an overview of Age Grade Rugby will be available in the clubhouse on Registration Day or visit: www.englandrugby/agegraderugby

Conduct

Can I please remind you of the Rugby Code of Conduct for players and spectators. These principles are an integral part of Mini & Junior rugby at BRFC. Any breaches will be investigated and can lead to sanctions for those involved. Please respect our young players and the reputation of BRFC by following these codes.

The BRFC Community

Finally, I’d like to urge you to really engage with your club this season! We have great facilities for our young players but maintaining them doesn’t come cheap and the club needs to cover it’s costs just like any other business.

Simple things like popping in for a hot drink and a cheeky bacon bap on a Sunday morning, a drink or two in the bar when the kids finish at 12 o’clock, looking out for and supporting club functions, or maybe hiring the club for your own private party on a Friday or Saturday night will help to keep the lights on, the grass mown and the fire roaring on a cold, wet Sunday!

Inspire your young players by bringing them along to the 1st XV home fixtures on a Saturday afternoon to watch how the ‘big boys’ play (all of the mini age groups get the chance to take part in a couple of pre-match exhibition games, ask your administrator for details) or earn some brownie points by bringing family and friends along to a three-course pre-match lunch before you cheer on the Bromsgrove team.

Thank you for being part of BRFC - here’s looking forward to another enjoyable and successful season.

Mini and Junior Section (M&Js)

 August 2015

Dear Parents, Carers & Young Players,

Welcome to the 2015/16 season

In last year’s pre-season letter I stressed the need for the M&J section to get behind and support the club in order to help turn its finances around after a year of, amongst other things, lower sales turnover and the huge cost of cancelling the 2014 Summer Ball.  Those who came to the club and/or M&J AGM will know that, after some extensive work by the new club treasurer and the fantastic success of the summer events, the club is now in a much healthier position as we head into the 2015/16 season.  I hope that you feel you were able to play a part in helping BRFC through a tricky time and are looking forward to supporting the club’s activities and events during Rugby World Cup year.

Another summer is flying by and it is now time to give you some details for the new M&J Season.

Registration Day
The Mini and Junior registration day will be on Sunday 6th September 2015.  In the past couple of years we have split the day and, with the sheer volume of members across the twelve Mini and Junior Age Groups, we will do this again.  Times will be:

Under 6s to Under 12s - registration and training between 10am & 12noon
Under 13s to Under 17s - registration and training between 1pm & 3pm

Fees for the 2015/16 season will remain the same (subject to a maximum of £140 per family):
Mini (U6 – U12)£60
Junior (U13 – U17)£70

As you know, the club underwent a huge review of its finances last season.  It was proposed and agreed at the MGM that membership fees across the club would be increased by £5, thereby making the Family Membership fee for 2015/16 £25 per family.  (Under the BRFC constitution Family Membership is compulsory for all families with a child playing in the M&J section.)

Life Sponsor
A one-off membership fee of £400 covers club membership for your entire life – no more annual Family Membership fees or Social Membership fees once you move on from M&Js.  This can be paid in a lump sum or in instalments.

Life sponsor monies are invested in the Club Development Fund and will be used to further improve facilities at the club.  If you are interested in becoming a Life Sponsor, please contact me for details prior to 6th September.

Fixtures
A comprehensive list of all fixtures will be in the Membership Handbook and available on the Mini and Junior section of the club website: www.bromsgroverfc.co.uk.  Whilst fixtures are correct at the time of going to press, obviously not all clubs’ M&J sections are as well established as ours and many may not know if they are able to field a team at certain age groups until after registrations, so these are liable to change regularly throughout the season. Please check the website on a weekly basis for any changes to fixtures and make sure you are on your administrators mailing list.

Website
The club website is an important ‘window’ on the club, the first place to look for news and upcoming events and an easy way for age groups to keep everyone updated.  Some age groups still need a volunteer to take responsibility for updating their page (with news, match reports, events, photos etc).  If this is the role for you then please contact your administrator so that we can sort out your access rights.

Kit
Speed One Sports will continue to supply M&J kit this season.  The website can be found at www.speedonesports.com with the BRFC kit under the ‘Club Shop’ tab.
The supplier will have a stall in the clubhouse every Sunday during September with some stock and the opportunity to check sizes and to place orders.
Match shirts for Mini players will continue to need to be ordered through the M&J section but now with a delivery timescale of 2 weeks (rather than 12!).

Conduct
Can I please remind you of the Rugby Code of Conduct for players and spectators, copy attached.  These principles, along with the core values shown at the bottom of this page, are an integral part of Mini & Junior rugby at BRFC. Any breaches will be investigated and can lead to sanctions for those involved.  Please respect our young players and the reputation of BRFC by following these codes.

Summer Camp – BRFC Mon 24th to Weds 26th August
By now you should have received by email a flyer via your age group for the summer camp being run by our Director of Rugby and Senior Club coaches.  Feedback for the last camp was excellent and this will be a great way for your young players to prepare for the season ahead and burn off some of that end-of-the-holidays energy!  Details are on the Facebook page and the BRFC website.

Finally, once again I’d like to thank all the coaches, age group administrators and other volunteers, without whom the M&J section couldn’t exist.  Please make these guy’s jobs as easy as possible by stepping up to help out with your particular age group’s activities (car park duty, mascots, tour planning, fundraising etc).

If you feel you would like to become more involved by volunteering (by now you should have heard many times from your administrators that we have some vacancies to fill!) then please don’t hesitate to contact me, or any member of the M&J Committee.

Here’s looking forward to another enjoyable and successful season.

Many thanks to those M&J Members who attended the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 17th May.  The minutes will be available on the website shortly.  Could I please remind you that we have opportunities to get more involved with the M&Js next season (details can be seen below) - please get in touch if you would like more information on any of the roles.

I'd also like to thank the coaches from each age group who came along to give a brief overview of their season and announce their player of the season.  Huge thanks to Paul Norris for once again presenting the trophies.

Notification of and Invitation to the Mini & Junior
Annual General Meeting 2014/15 Season

Dear M&J Members

Thank you for helping to make the season yet another success for the M&Js at Bromsgrove RFC.

The M&J AGM will be held in the clubhouse on Sunday 17th May, commencing at 11am. The Player of the Season Awards will follow at 12:30pm when a coach from each age group will summarise their season and present the club trophy to their nominated player.

Everyone is welcome, so please come along to hear the review of our year from various committee members, plans for 2015/16 - RWC year, to support and share any ideas for the M&J section and to show your appreciation for the eighty-plus volunteers that help the section run smoothly each year.  The bar will be open and there will be access to the recently purchased barbecues for those wanting to make an afternoon of it.

Can I also like to remind you that, whilst the Rugby World Cup Lunch is now sold out, there are still a few tickets available for the Summer Ball on Saturday 13th June.  This is a really special event, held in a huge marquee and a great way to start the summer so please contact Jo Pitt for tickets before these sell out too.

I hope to see you on 17th May and at the summer events.  Have a great summer and look forward to another full season for your M&J player(s) in September.

Yours sincerely
Rebecca Blasdale
